About Anderson Outfitters

Four Decades of Mountain State Experience Behind Every Trip We Guide

Anderson Outfitters was built on a foundation that most outfitters simply cannot match: over forty years of guiding hunting and fishing trips across the Mountain West. Founder Bruce Anderson spent those decades working across New Mexico, Arizona, Idaho, Colorado, and Montana before making the move to establish Anderson Outfitters and bring together a team of guides who share the same depth of experience and passion for putting clients on fish. Based in Bozeman, we operate on some of the most storied trout water in the American West while also running one of the most dedicated ice fishing programs in the state.

Fly Fishing Trips

Wild Trout on Montana's Most Iconic Rivers

Montana fly fishing is everything you have heard about and then some. Anderson Outfitters puts you on the Yellowstone, Missouri, Madison, Gallatin, and Big Horn River systems with guides who have spent decades learning every riffle, run, and bend of these legendary waters. From technical dry fly days when the hatches are popping to streamer programs chasing big brown trout in the canyon sections, every trip is planned around current river conditions, seasonal hatch timing, and what will give you the best possible day on the water.

Ice Fishing Trips

Montana's Frozen Waters Are Full of Fish and We Know Exactly Where to Find Them

Most people assume the fishing stops when winter arrives in Montana. Most people are wrong. When the rivers lock up Anderson Outfitters transitions to the frozen lakes and reservoirs that hold some of the finest ice fishing in the northern Rockies. Hebgen Lake, Canyon Ferry, Holter Lake, Fort Peck, and other productive waters depending on ice conditions give us access to walleye, yellow perch, northern pike, and wild trout throughout the winter season.

Life on the Water in Montana

Brown trout in the net on the Madison. Walleye through the ice at Canyon Ferry. Early morning mist rising off the Yellowstone with a fish working the far bank. This is what a day with Anderson Outfitters looks like and why anglers keep coming back to Montana year after year and season after season.
